Hear The World is a global initiative by Phonak to raise awareness about the importance of hearing and the consequences of hearing loss – a problem that affects more than 16% of the world’s population. The initiative addresses the social and psychological effects of hearing loss, and provides information on prevention and solutions. Our ability to hear is a fundamental part of our lives, and yet most people take it for granted.
Hear The World (run) is a group of athletes all over the world who run to raise awareness about the importance of hearing and the consequences of hearing loss. We support a variety of charities across the globe. Our focus is to educate, motivate & inspire people through athletic solidarity & overall awesomeness. The team was initially formed in the summer of 2011 in Los Angeles by Hear The World athlete & ambassador, Ayden Marie Vargas, who was diagnosed with Meniere’s disease & chronic vertigo in 2002. Ayden’s goal was to provide a sense of community for athletes HOH, deaf, hearing impaired and hearing alike! Hear The World (run) seeks to demonstrate the strength & determination of people not willing to let their circumstances limit what they do and how they live their lives. After overwhelming support from the Los Angeles community, Hear The World (run) grew from a Southern California team to an international running community in just a matter of months!
